Balkh activists condemn deadly Jalalabad attack

Balkh activists condemn deadly Jalalabad attack

Aug 02, 2018 - 16:46

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Civil societyinfo-icon activists in northern Balkh province on Thursday strongly condemned Tuesday’s gun and bomb attack on the Refugee and Repatriation Department in eastern Nangarhar province, in which 14 lives were lost.

A member of the Provincial Civil Societies Activists Association, Syed Mohammad Yazdan Parast, expressed his deep concern over the attack in Jalalabad.

He said it was due to Nangarhar’s geographic location that insurgents always waged their attacks there and because the province generated a great revenue.

Parast added Nangarhar being on the Durand Lineinfo-icon was used by foreign intelligence as a launch pad for their destructive activities.

He called on the people of Nangarhar to stay united and strong against the enemies’ conspiracies.

Meanwhile, Bakh Refugee and Repatriation director Abdul Sabor Qadiri termed the attack on the refugee department in Nangarhar as inhuman act and added the enemies wanted to spread fear among Nangarharis by such attacks.

He said the refugee department was not a political organ but it only assisted the displaced families.

On the other hand, Balkh literature movement head Zabihullah Ihsas also urged the government to ensure people’s security.

He said insecurity not only resulted in life and financial losses but also impeded economic projects. He urged the people not to remain silent over the ongoing insecurities.
