KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Police in northern Kunduz province have detained an illegal armed group commander accused of extortion, kidnappings for ransom and murders in Khanabad district.

Kunduz police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Baqi Nuristani told Pajhwok the illegal commander was detained on friady evening along with one companion and two pistols after a brief clash.

“The commander’s name is Matin but he is known as Matink. He has long been involved in extortion, kidnappings and murders. He is accused of killing  number of innocent people,” the police chief said.

After initial questioning, the detained commander was referred to the judicial organs, Nuristani said.
