SHARANA (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon gunmen killed 10 police and captured one alive during a coordinated attack on their post in the Sar Hawza district of southeastern Paktika province, officials said Sunday.

The district police, chief Noor Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents coordinately stormed the border police check-post late Saturday night.

He said ten policemen had been killed and one detained alive by insurgents in the nighttime attack. However, he said the Taliban also suffered causalities, but exact figures were not immediately known.

Elsewhere in the province, the Mata Khan district police chief was injured among three others during a clash with insurgents.

One policeman was killed in the clash, a security official, who declined to be identified, said.

Paktika deputy police chief Col. Abdul Rauf Masood confirmed the assault and said five security forces suffered casualties.
