KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Australian businesses are assisting Afghani immigrants by selling reusable shopping bags crafted by them, a news report said on Tuesday.

The reusable bags were also featured at the Harvest Market throughout last month’s plastic-free initiative, according to The Examiner.

A workshop was conducted on crafting of the bags at the Tamar Valley Peace Festival’s Global Village event, the newspaper reported.

In an effort to help support the Afghani community, Charles Street Grocer and the Tasmanian Artisan Shop are among the retail stores stocking the bags.

“We’re in a time of transition and moving away from plastic bags to alternatives that are much more sustainable in caring for the planet,” said Womeninfo-icon’s Friendship Group member Jo Dean.
