KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon’s rising left-arm leggie Zahir Khan has joined the Lancashire County for the rest of the season, a cricket website reports.

The 19-year-old wrist-spinner, who is yet to make his international debut, is the fourth Afghan cricketer to join a British county this season.

Spin sensation Rashid Khan is playing for Sussex, Mohammad Nabi for Leicestershire) and Mujeebur Rahman for Hampshire.

ESPNcricinfo.com quoted Zahir Khan as saying: "I'm really excited to be signing for Lancashire for the rest of the campaign. It's always been an ambition of mine to play county cricket…”

He was part of Afghanistan's squad for their inaugural Test against India and represented his war-torn country in last year's Under-19 Worldinfo-icon Cup.

He said: "I have heard a lot of good things about Lancashire and Old Trafford from Jos Buttler when I played with him at the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and I hope to make a significant contribution during my stay here."
