KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The US forces in Afghanistaninfo-icon on Friday rejected allegations that its airstrikes in northern Kunduz province led to civilian casualties during an Afghan forces-led operation.

“After carefully considering all relevant and reasonably available information, which included a review of the Afghan government’s report of findings, our investigation found no credible information to corroborate the allegations,” said US Army Lt. Col. Martin O’Donnell, US Forces-Afghanistan spokesperson.

The US forces began their investigation into the July 19 airstrikes on July 24 following allegations they led to civilian casualties.

The airstrikes were carried out in defense of the Afghan forces during Afghan-led ground offensive operations in Chahar Darah district, Kunduz province.

“US Forces-Afghanistan takes all allegations of civilian casualties seriously.  Should any further credible information become available, an investigative body will reconvene to re-review this allegation.”
