‘Aviation Authority capable of detecting any movement in country's airspace’

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghanistaninfo-icon Independent Civil Aviation Authority (AICAA) has claimed the newly installed radar system has the capacity to detect every movement in the airspace of Afghanistan, an official said on Saturday.

AICAA Head Mahmood Shah Habibi told reporters here the country got its airspace independence after 16-year after. The US forces handed over the control to Afghan official in a ceremony on Thursday attended by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

Habibi said the AICAA during the past three years trained 100 specialists in the field of airspace and adopted a complete radar system which cost $100 million.

He announced currently the air control of Afghanistan was in the hands of Afghans and being control by local specialised persons.

President Ghani during his speech congratulated the entire nation over the successful installation of the new radar system and AICAA efforts in training its personnel inside the country.

He said one of the national unity government’s key commitments was regaining control of the Afghanistan airspace, which had been achieved.

He said his government’s main target was turning Afghanistan into a regional roundabout. “And today we achieved the target through the air.”

The president stressed over technology use and said technology was the need of the modern area and the most advanced technology was being used in the radar system.
