16 inmates released from Nimroz prison

Aug 11, 2018 - 15:01

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): At least 16 prisoners have been released from the central jail of northwestern Nimroz province in compliance with a presidential decree, officials said on Saturday.

Mohammad Shoaib Sabit, the attorney general office head, said at a release ceremony said 16 inmates were freed based on a decree from President Ashraf Ghani ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

He said the jail terms of 13 others were reduced.

“I hope this jail has been an educationinfo-icon centre for you, and you have become good members of societyinfo-icon,” remarked Abdul Raqib Mubarez, the police chief.

One of the beneficiaries, seeking anonymity, promised to serve society and would never commit offences in future.
