More reinforcements will be sent to Ghazni: Ghani
KABUL (Pajhwok): A high-level meeting has decided that more reinforcements should be dispatched to Ghazni province on an urgent basis, President Ashraf Ghani said on Monday.
“Tonight I chaired an emergency meeting to take stock of the situation in Ghazni province. I spoke with the governor, commander of the 203rd Thunder Corps and provincial police and NDS chiefs,” Ghani tweeted.
Briefed on the emerging military and humanitarian situation in the province, Ghani said after a detailed review, the meeting decided reinforcements should be dispatched to the province to consolidate operational gains.
Latest reports from Ghazni province – in the center of Afghanistan – indicate that battles are still ongoing in parts of the provincial capital.
Clashes are still ongoing in Ghazni City, where the Taliban have created checkpoints and are firing rockets at the police headquarters. Telecom services in provincial capital have also been disrupted.
