PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Traffic resumed on the Kabulinfo-icon-Mazar-i-Sharif highway six hours after a clash between security forces and Talibaninfo-icon in Doshi district of northern Baghlan province on Thursday.

Provincial deputy police spokesman Javed Basharat told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash, which erupted in Kela locality at around 5am, came to an end at around 12pm after which the highway was reopened for traffic.

He said both the warring sides suffered causalities, but he had no exact figures.

Meanwhile, a driver on the route, Sheer Mohammad, told Pajhwok that the highway was reopened after 12pm.

He said: “When I reached Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, at about 6am, police did not allow me to proceed and thus passengers also got off the car. But now the highway has reopened.”

The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard.
