KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A former spymaster on Friday slammed the national unity government as a big flop, saying the rulers were unable to tackle the current situation in the country.

Asadullah Khalid, who also heads the opposition alliance Omaid-i-Saba, alleged the security in Afghanistaninfo-icon was deteriorating with each passing day.

Speaking to a gathering of his supporters, Khalid lamented dozens of innocent Afghans were being killed on a daily basis. In the past week, he said, around 1,000 people were killed.

“The tragedies in Ghazi City, Dasht-i-Barchi and the massacre of security forces in Baghlan and Ajristan are among the incidents that occurred last week,” he added.

Khalid also referred to the worsening economic conditions and rising unemployment. “Today, our educated youth can’t find jobs, even in brick-kilns.”

He accused the government leaders of seeking their future in dividing ethnic communities. “Previously, such orders were delivered in Punjab but today our own rulers are doing such things…”

Khalid also hit out at the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission’s decision on disqualifying a number of parliamentary candidates. He believed the hopefuls should have been assign convincing reasons.
