Ghani lauds courage of security forces in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Friday lauded the Afghan security forces for their courage in flushing Talibaninfo-icon militants from the capital of southern Ghazni province.

The president arrived in the city a week after the insurgents assaulted it from different directions and captured parts it. At least 150 soldiers and 95 civilians lost their lives during the day siege. .

During his visit to Ghazni City, the president met provincial officials to take stock of the security situation. He also met relatives of the victims and prayed for the departed souls.

On his arrival, the president said: "I am here to help all those who have suffered losses. I am committed to rebuilding the city and doing everything to protect it." "Our soldiers have fought bravely and we remain committed to bringing peace."

As the president was briefed on the security environmentinfo-icon, at least three rockets were fired into the city. However, the rockets caused no casualties.
