LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Strict security measures have been put in place ahead of Eid-ul-Adha in Lashkargah, the provincial capital of southern Helmand province and surrounding areas, an official said on Monday.

Police Chief Abdul Razeq Yaqoubi told Pajhwok Afghan News 32 additional and short-term check-points have been created in Lashkargha to prevent criminal and terrorist acts.

He said instead of responsible and specific persons no one is allowed to enter the city with arms.

Governor Maj. Gen. Mohammad Yasin Khan said a garrison had been constituted for the security of Lashkargha with the authority to stop crimes and criminal acts in the city.

He said security personnel and government officials entering the city from other parts of the province need to submit their arms before entering the city.

Mohammad Wali Ashraf, the resident of Lashkargah, said there was more crowed during Eid days which create chance for any kind of incident.
