Hamdullah Mohib replaces Atmar as NSA
KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar has resigned from his post, citing differences with the government leadership over various policies, an official said Saturday.
Qader Shah, head of the National Security Council (NSC) strategic affairs, confirmed Atmar’s resignation to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Pajhwok received a copy of Atmar’s resignation letter dated August 25. Atmar thanked the president for reposing trust in him and cited differences over peace, security, good governance, elections, regional and international matters with the government leadership as reason behind his resignation.
He has asked the president to accept his resignation.
Presidential Spokesman Haroon Chakhansouri said Atmar presented his resignation on Saturday and the president accepted it.
He added Afghanistan’s ambassador to the US Hamdullah Mohib would replace Atmar as NSA.
