KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has rejected resignations of interior and defence ministers, as well as the spymaster.

Defence Minister Gen Tariq Shah Bahrami, Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak and NDSinfo-icon head Masoum Stanikzai had tendered their resignations after a spate of deadly attacks.

Presidential spokesman Haroon Chakhansori told Pajhwok Afghan News Ghani refused to accept their resignations and asked them to continue in their offices.

The president also directed them to take effective measures to improve the security situation, he added.

On Sunday, National Security Advisor (NSA) Hanif Atmar resigned his post and there were rumors that Ghani had asked the top security bosses to stand down.

A source in the Presidential Palace, wishing anonymity, said Ghani had asked the officials to quit after devastating attacks on Ghazni and Kabul on the first day of Eidul Adha.
