Star leggie Rashid Khan extends stay with Sussex

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Worldinfo-icon’s number one leg-spinner Rashid Khan, opting out of the Caribbean Premier League, has extended his stay with Sussex for the first half of the 2019 Twenty20 Blast group stage.

The 19-year-old, hailing from eastern Nangarhar province, played 11 T20 games for Sussex, taking 17 wickets at an average of just 14.35 and an impressive economy rate of 6.59.

The spin sensation said: "I really enjoyed my stay and can't wait to come again and play for Sussex next year. I was really pleased to see the team qualify for the quarter finals…”

Sussex head coach Jason Gillespie was quoted as saying by the BBC Sportsinfo-icon: "I'm jumping for joy at the prospect of having Rashid back for us next year… He was brilliant for Sussex."

Rashid, who has claimed 190 scalps at an average of just 15.24 from 125 T20s, guided Sussex to a first quarter-final since 2015, He has also played a key role in the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
