KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Six police personnel were wounded in two back to back bomb explosions on their post in southern Kandahar province on Sunday evening, an official said.

Deputy provincial police spokesman Bashir Khaksar told Pajhwok Afghan News the twin blasts targeted a police check-point in the jurisdiction of the 14th police district shortly after 8pm Sunday evening.

Another security official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok the 14th police district deputy chief was among six police injured in the blasts.

The security official said the one of the two bombs that went off first had been placed in a power transformer and the second planted on the median strip.
