KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): New NATOinfo-icon Resolute Support Commander Gen. Austin Scott Miller on Sunday vowed to intensify efforts at strengthening Afghan security forces during his maiden meeting with President Ashraf Ghani.

Gen. Miller, who assumed charge as NATO and US forces top commander in Afghanistaninfo-icon, called on President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday evening at the Presidential Palace.

The president felicitated Gen. Millar on assuming the charge of commanding NATO and US forces in Afghanistan, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

During the meeting, the priorities of Afghan security forces and positive outcome of the US strategy on Afghanistan and South Asia came up for discussion.

The new US commander pledged to intensify efforts at training and advising the Afghan forces.
