Grand alliance trying to develop confusion: PRD

Grand alliance trying to develop confusion: PRD

Sep 02, 2018 - 20:26

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Population Registration Department accused the Grand National Alliance (GNA) on Sunday of trying to create confusion about transparency in the upcoming elections by producing a large number of ‘fake’ ID cards and urged the Interior Ministry to investigate the matter.

A day earlier, the GNA stressed implementation of the election reform draft suggested by political parties and claimed finding access to documents that exposed government’s efforts to rig the upcoming polls.

The alliance showed thousands of fake Tazkeras or ID papers to reporters that maintained special election stickers of the Independent Election Commission.

But PRD’s spokesman Rohullah Ahmadzai told a press conference that the GNA was misleading people’s mind by showing fake ID cards.
He said among the allegations presented by political parties yesterday, a number of them had already arrived and after review, it was found that none of them had any basis.

He noted that the signs, registration books, the signature and stamps all were fake and this was the reason an official letter was sent to the Ministry of Interior to call for investigation of the matter and the arrest of its perpetrators.

Ahmadzai said political parties had been urged to help monitor the ID card distribution process, but they refused to cooperate.

He assured PRD’s affairs went transparently and whenever a fraud was unearthed, the perpetrators would be handed over the judicial organs.

Meanwhile, IECinfo-icon commissioner Syed Hafeezullah Hashami said the grand political alliance should move the court and prove their allegations there.
