PESHAAWAR (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called the closure of Pakistaninfo-icon’s consulate in Jalalabad an issue of concern.

The diplomatic mission was temporarily shut down two days back over alleged interference from the governor of eastern Nangarhar province.

However, Hayat has denied the allegation as groundless, blaming the diplomatic mission for inordinate delays in issuance of visas to the Afghans.

On Sunday night, Qureshi told reporters in Islamabad the closure was a matter of concern and he would raise it with the Afghan foreign minister today (Monday).

About the Pentagon’s move to scrap $300 million in Coalition Support Fund (CSF) to Pakistan, he said it was not aid.

“We have spent it from our own funds for a better Pakistan in the fight against terror. The US was supposed to reimburse this amount.”

He said Pakistan would share its view when with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who is due to visit Islamabad on September 5.
