IECC warns candidates against violating campaign rules

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Monday said starting election campaign ahead of the given date was considered rigging and that candidates who are yet to resign from their posts would be removed from the candidate list.

The IECC also warned to fine 50,000 to 100,000 afghanis a candidate who started electioneering before the given date.

IECC spokesman Ali Raza Rohani told reporters here that the publication of candidates’ messages on different occasions such as deaths, felicitation, Eid, seminars, conferences, sportsinfo-icon events and other could be considered as rigging and the candidate could face punishment.

He said Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon candidates could launch their campaign after the publication of final candidate list.

He asked people to report every kind of fraud in the election process to the election bodies in provinces and Kabul.
