FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon militants killed a district police chief along with two subordinates and snatched 14 trucks carrying 180 tons of wheat for drought-hit families in western Ghorinfo-icon province on Wednesday, police said.

Deputy police chief Syed Zia Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News the Shahrak district police chief Ziaul Haq Khushnod was killed in Dashti Qarghano locality at around 11:00 am.

The police were escorting a convoy of 16 trucks carrying wheat for distribution to drought-hit families when ambushed by Taliban militants.

Hamedullah Dadfar, head of the Disaster Management Department, said the Taliban seized 14 trucks out of the 16.

The Taliban have not yet spoken about the incident.
