Congo fever kills 1 person in Nangarhar, 7 suspected cases emerge

JALALABAD (Pajhwok) Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has killed one person after seven suspected cases emerged recently, an official said on Saturday.

CCHF is a viral disease symptoms may include fever, muscle pains, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding into the skin. The CCHF virus is typically spread by tick bites or contact with livestock carrying the disease.

Public Healthinfo-icon Department Spokesman Inamullah Miakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Seven suspected cases had been emerged recently and one person has lost his life,”

He said the provincial health department had provided the facilities for diagnosing Congo Virus and its prevention in some central and district level hospitals. He said all suspected individual who feared to have been suffering from Congo Virus could refer to these hospitals.

He said media, social media networks and other public sources have launched campaign for the prevention of Congo Virus diseases.

Meanwhile Rafiullah Rahimzai, Director Agricultureinfo-icon and Livestock Department told Pajhwok Afghan News the Agriculture Department had launched administering Congo prevention vaccine to livestock in the province.

In addition, he said around 1,000 farmers would be distributed health packages which would advise them about the preventive measure against Congo Viruse.
