HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Former jihadiinfo-icon leader Mohammad Ismail Khan claimed on Monday that ‘50 percent’ of the upcoming elections had already been rigged and called for establishing a military government to overcome the country’s current crises.

Addressing a rally in Herat City, the capital of western Herat province, the former Water and Energy minister warned he would not accept the upcoming polls if conducted under the existing circumstances.

“If the government creates more problems and difficulties for people, it won’t be acceptable,” Khan said.

He suggested the establishment of a principles-based military government as the only way to get rid of the current crises. “If this type of government is not formed, the challenges would increase.”

Ismail Khan further said the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon could not afford more problems and asked the international community to help bring in a transitional government to address the crises.

The growing number of casualties among security forces would afraid people not to join the army, the former jihadi leader said.

Herat Governor Mohammad Asif Rahimi in his speech hailed the sacrifices of Mujahidin. He stressed over support to the families of martyrs.
