Jalalabad: Child killed, 4 injured in serial bombings

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): One child was killed and five people were wounded in a series of explosions in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, an official said.2

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blasts took place in quick succession the limits of 3rd and 6th police districts at around 8am. He said a 14-year-old boy was killed and four others wounded.

Meanwhile, a credible security source, who did not want to be named, said the explosion occurred close to Bibi Hawa and Malika Humaira schools. A landmine was recovered and defused close the Najm-ul-Jihadinfo-icon School.

Educationinfo-icon department spokesman Mohammad Asif Shinwari, confirmed the blasts happened close to the schools. He said two cleaners of the schools were slightly wounded.

A hospital source, wishing anonymity, confirmed receiving five injured people from the site of the blasts.

Sharifullah, a resident of the area, said one child was killed and four people others were wounded as a result of the blasts close to Malika Humaira School.

“Two children, who were enrolled recently, were among the wounded. One child killed. Hit by bricks in their heads, two school guards were also injured,” he added.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the three blasts, which are currently under investigation. Both Daesh and Talibaninfo-icon militants are active in the province.
