Cycling race held in Faryab to promote anti-corruption drive

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Department of Sportinfo-icon and Physical Training and Cycling Federation in the northwestern Fayab province have arranged a cycling competition to spread awareness on corruption eradication.

Abdul Wahab Majidi, head of the Sport and Physical Training, told Pajhwok Afghan News 30 cyclists took part in the eight-kilometer race in which top five had been introduced as winners.

Eng. Ahmad Kewan, the mayor of Maimana City, said the municipality took practical steps to spread awareness regarding good governance, eradication of corruption and demanded more programs which could help eliminate corruption from the societyinfo-icon. The municipality provided financial support to the cycling race.

Governor Naqibullah Faeq hailed the sportsinfo-icon institutions for the arrangement of cycling race and said youth are the backbone of the society and could play a leading role in the eradication of corruption.
