PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon militants have dynamited a large bridge connecting 40 remote villages in northern Baghlan province, local residents claimed on Sunday.

The bridge in Abqo locality of Markaz-i-Baghlan district was destroyed with bombs a few days back, said Arbab Shamsullah, a resident of the district

He told Pajhwok Afghan News that prices of food items surged after the bridge was destroyed, a situation that has landed local residents in trouble.

A teacher in Mangal village Gul Rahman confirmed to Pajhwok that Taliban rebels had blown up their bridge with landmines.

He said the rebels had previously also partially damaged the bridge, but later local residents repaired it. This time the structure was extensively damaged, he added.

The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident.
