ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Police in southwestern Nimroz province have arrested eight persons over smuggling charges and send back dozens who wanted to travel to foreign countries illegally, an official said on Monday.

Police Spokesman Wali Ahmad Sareh told Pajhwok Afghan News travel agents wanted to shift these people in 14 vehicles illegally to Pakistaninfo-icon and Iran through Chahar Boluk district.

Police have arrested eight persons over drug smuggling and four others managed to flee, he said.

He asked the people not to travel illegally to the neighbouring counties through these routes and if anybody found doing so police would arrest them.

Mohammad Hashim, the resident of Zaranj, the provincial capital, said it was not the appropriate way to stop the illegal travel, adding that the government first should create jobs opportunity for the people and ensure their security so they would not feel the need to travel to foreign country.

In the second phase, he said, the government should stop the illegal migrationinfo-icon from the provinces.

Mohammad Nabi, the resident of Fayab, said he was deported by Iranian security forces but still wanted to travel to foreign country in order to feed his children.

He said around 1,000 people daily left Afghanistaninfo-icon through the southwestern borders and travel to foreign countries. Iran deports around 800 back to Afghanistan daily.
