Concrete work on Kamal Khan dam’s 3rd phase begins

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Local authorities in southwestern Nimroz province on Thursday announced launching concrete works on the third phase of Kamal Khan after completing earthworks of the first and second part.

Governor Dr. Sayed Wali Sultan told Pajhwok Afghan News the dam’s concrete work would be completed within nine months and more than 90,000 cubic meters of concrete will be used.

He described the Kamal Khan dam as one of the major and important project with the capacity to irrigate more than 174000 hectares of land regularly in the province.

According to him, a special security unit has been raised for the security of the dam.

He said 350 employees, including local and foreign engineers, were busy working on the project.

Mohammad Suhrab, Chahar Bolak district development council’s head, said the dam project provided job opportunities to thousands of residents of Chahar Bolak and Zaranj city, the provincial capital.

Eng. Shah Wali, provincial water supply department head, said the Kamal Khan dam was being built in three phases and the first and second phase had been completed by raising mud walls.
