SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Father of a seven-year-old sexually assaulted boy on Wednesday threatened to kill self if the authorities in northern Jwazjan province did not arrest and punish the rapist.

The 50 years old, Abdul Baqi, who is originally from Chahardara district of northern Kunduz province, said his son was sexually assaulted when he sent him to the bazaar to get repaired his cell phone.

He said his son was first kidnapped and then sexually assaulted by a man on Tuesday. After the sexual abuse, his son was threatened with a knife and deprived of the phone and money.

The father went to the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) office in Shiberghan, but he was told to report the matter to the governor’s house.

“When I went there, officials at the governor’s house said I should lodge a complaint with the police headquarters, and today I am here at the police headquarters, but no one is listening my voice.

Baqi threatened to kill self if his son’s rapist was not apprehended and punished. He said his son knew the house of the alleged rapist and so his neighbors. He asked the police to arrest the man.

Col. Haji Kamaluddin, crime branch police chief, said he was unaware about the incident. He said the victim’s father had not complained to them so far. “If he registers his complaint at the provincial police headquarters, we will take action.”

Meanwhile, Governor Lotfullah Azizi told Pajhwok that when he became aware of the incident, he ordered security officials to investigate it.
