‘Teachers dispatched for higher studies to foreign don’t return’

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Officials of the Herat University on Saturday said that teachers who went abroad for the master degree have not returned back to the country or some have flown again to the foreign after their return.

Herat University chancellor Abdullah Faez told reporters here one doctor and five university teachers who had gone to foreign countries especially to the US have not returned back to the country and preferred to stay abroad especially those who had the US visas.

“We took strong guarantees, including the financial guarantees, from the teachers before they were dispatched to the foreign countries for higher educationinfo-icon. They were told to serve for two years at Herat University after their return and then can go to another place,” he said.

Faez expressed concern over the lack of lecturers at the university and added a number of teachers had been dispatched to the foreign country for master studies.

Meanwhile, a number of students also complained against the lack of lectures at the University.

Habib, the student of Journalism faculty, said: “Unfortunately this year most of our teachers had gone to foreign countries for master studies and we don’t have quality teachers. We are being taught by teachers who recently graduated.”

Niatamutllah, another student of journalism faculty, said: “This is a huge challenge and students most affected due to this, he added.
