KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Swedish Committee for Afghanistaninfo-icon (SCA) has provided a prosthetic leg for a deer -- victim of the war -- in northern Takhar province, an official said on Wednesday.

An SCA official, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the deer -- one of its legs severed -- was brought to a Taloqan workshop by an individual who had found and saved it.

SCA’s orthopedic staff, taking on the challenge, provided a fully functional prosthetic leg for the cervine animal, which is being kept by the individual who does not want disclose his identity.

It is said to be the first deer in the worldinfo-icon running with an artificial limb.

Last year, around 250 civilian casualties of the conflict were provided with prosthetic limbs or wheelchairs in Taloqan and 750 across the country by SCA.
