PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Balkh Legends humiliated the Paktia Panthers in their Gulbahar Afghanistaninfo-icon Premier League match at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.

Ryan ten Doeschate struck an unbeaten 74 at a strike rate of 180.50 to guide the Legends, who won the toss and opted bat first, to a formidable total of 195 in the allotted 20 overs.

The Dutchman faced 41 balls to emerge as the highest scorer for the side, whacking four boundaries and five sixes, according to Pakistani TV channel Geo Super, which aired the match.

Darwish Rasooli chipped in with a valuable 44 off 28 balls, smashing three shots to the fence and two maximums. The 18-year-old was caught by Mohammad Sardar on Azmatullah Omarzai’s bowling.

Ravi Bopara scored 26 runs off 16 deliveries, hitting one stroke to the fence and two sixes. The English cricketer was trapped leg before wicket by Isuru Udana. His strike rate was 162.50.

Set a 196-run target, the Paktia Panthers’ top order collapsed like a house of cards. Only four batsmen could reach double figures, as the whole team folded up for 106 in 15.2 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz showed some spine, top-scoring with 33 off 22 balls, studded with four sixes. Captain Mohammad Shahzad made 16, Sharafuddin Ashraf 14 and Azmatullah Omarzai 11.

For the Legends, Ravi Bopara was the pick of bowlers with three wickets to his credit. Aftab Alam, Gulbadin Naib and Qais Ahmad claimed two scalps each.
