KABULinfo-icon/KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): As recommended by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), President Ashraf Ghani on Monday ordered the appointment of Tadeen Khan Achakzai, brother of the slain police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq, as the police chief for southern Kandahar province.

Gen. Raziq and provincial National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) chief Abdul Momin Hussainkhel were killed in the gun attack that left some other officials including Governor ZalmaiWesa wounded on Thursday after a high level security meeting at the governor’s house.

Nasrut Rahimi, MoI spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News as per MoI recommendation and President Ghani’s order, Gen. Raziq’s brother Tadeen Khan has been appointed as acting Kandahar police chief.

On the other hand, spymaster Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai told at a press conference in Kandahar that the decision to appoint Khan as the police chief had been made to meet local people’s demand.
