9 of a family injured as blast rocks Kunar’s capital
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Nine people including two children from the same family were wounded in a blast in Asadabad, the capital of eastern Kunar province, on Monday, an official said.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Haq Nawaz Haqyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place near the provincial court in Qazain Famili area of the city around 1pm.
He said the incident happened in front of a shop but the nature of the blast was not known. Eight civilians wounded in the incident were shifted to hospital, he added.
Kunar Civil Hospital director, Dr. Mawladad, said nine people including two children had been brought to the hospital. He said condition of the injured was stable.
An eyewitness, Ahmadullah, said eight shops were also damaged as a result of the incident.
He said people injured in the incident belonged to a single family and they included father, his sons, brothers and brother-in-laws who were having lunch in their shop at the time of the blast.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
