7 Taliban killed, 3 Daesh financiers held in Laghman, Nangarhar

JALALABAD, MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): Three Daesh or so-called Islamic State (IS) key members have been arrested in Special Forces operation eastern Nangarhar while seven Talibaninfo-icon have been killed in Laghman province, officials said on Saturday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) personnel conducted the operation in Behsoud and Samarkhel districts late on Friday. As a result, three IS financiers were arrested.

Khogyani named the detainees as Khasadar, Niazmeen and Mohammad Abbas, he said, adding a motorbike, several weapons and ammunition were also seized during the raid.

Separately, NDS personnel also held two suspects over link with Taliban insurgents in limits of 2nd police district of Jalalabad City, the provincial capital on Friday.

In Laghman, four rebels were killed, including two commanders, during foreign forces airstrike in the Alishang district late on Friday, the governor’s spokesman said.

Asadullah Dawlatzai added the foreign forces target Taliban hideouts in Shamkat area of the district.

Meanwhile, police spokesman Shafiullah said the foreign forces also carried out airstrike in Qalatak area of the Alishang district. He said seven rebels; including two commanders were killed in the both strikes.

The officials confirmed civilians suffered no casualties in the airstrikes.

Taliban and Daesh have not yet commented in these regards.
