11 Daesh rebels surrender in Nangarhar’s Nazian

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Eleven Daesh militants, including womeninfo-icon and children, have surrendered to the government after medication of local people in the Nazian district of eastern Nangarhar province.

The Governor's Spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Daesh militants headed by two commanders included five women and four children and surrendered during a clearing operation in the area

He said the surrendering militants stopped anti-state activities after residents of the locality upraised against them.

The official said the Daesh families previously played a major role in the instability of the area and caused many problems for residents.

The surrendering individuals Pakistanis, Uzbek, Chechens, and citizens of other countries besides Afghans, he said.

He said they also turned in some weapons and assured not to re-join the insurgency and anti-state activities.

Recently, residents of Nazyan district upraised against insurgents and pledged not to put their weapons down until the last insurgent is eliminated.

Daesh has not responded to the uprising and surrender of its members.
