KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The security situation in southern Ghazni province is being addressed on emergency footing and special orders in this regard have been issued to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the National Security Council (NSC) said on Sunday.

A statement from the National Security Council said National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib met with lawmakers from Ghazni province and heard their views and suggestions in connection with the security situation in Ghazni.

Mohib hailed support of the people of Ghazni with security forces and said airstrikes and ground offensive against the enemy were underway.

He said suggestions of the people of Ghazni were considered and implemented in enforcement of stability and security, adding that security forces were committed to defending the motherland under every circumstance.

Ghazni lawmakers hailed efforts of the government for launching security operations in Jaghori and Malistan districts and demanded more attention to security in the province.

Jaghori has been a relatively stable district of Ghazni but Talibaninfo-icon militants launched attacks on the district few days back, and killed 10 commandos and 15 civilians in the latest attack in the district.
