JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Womeninfo-icon in eastern Nuristan province have been facing multiple issues and no work had been carried out for their uplift over the years, an official said on Saturday.

Tahmina Mowahid, appointed as acting women affairs director one month back, told Pajhwok Afghan News during the period she unearthed women related problems and would soon formulate strategies to resolve them.

She acknowledged no change happened in the lives of women in Nuristan over the years.

During an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, she said women in Nuristan still carried out hard works, lacked healthinfo-icon facilities and deprived of educationinfo-icon in most areas.

She added clinics were not available in most areas, female doctors are not available due to which most of the women died during the birth of their child.

“I have identified the problems during one month of my job and would soon formulate plans to address these issues,” she said.

Mowahid added concerned authorities had assured to help address these issue if proper strategies has been formulated.

Work on proper plans was underway and these plans had been shared with the ministry but insecurity was the main challenged which halted progress on women development.

She expressed worries if insecurity continued no improvement could be brought in women lives.
