AIBAK (Pajhwok): Asphalt work on a three-kilometer road and graveling of another one kilometer road was launched on Wednesday in the capital of northern Samangan province.

Eng. Sayed MuridSaraj, provincial public works director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the three-kilometer road was being asphalted from Khuram Sarbagh area of Aibak city to Dara-i-Jwandon area of the city.

He said construction of a nine-meter wide footpath was part of the project. Another 800 meters road with 10 culverts is being graveled, he said, adding the road connects Aibak city with Kabulinfo-icon-Mazar highway.

Saraj said the projects would take 18 months to complete and would cost 92 million afghanis donated by Germany.

Sibghatullah, acting Samangan governor, said many gardeners and farmers of the area would get benefit of the projects in transporting their products to the market.
