India to let Afghans attend ambitious edu courses

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The government of India will facilitate Afghan students and faculty of educational institutions to register for an ambitious programme called SWAYAM courses.

On Monday, the Indian cabinet approved agreements with Afghanistaninfo-icon in the field of educationinfo-icon, allowing students from that country to use courses devised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

According to the Press Trust of India, the MoU approved by the cabinet would facilitate students and faculty of educational institutions in Afghanistan to use the SWAYAM courses.

The government-funded initiative is aimed to achieve access, equity and quality in education. It seeks to benefit all, including the most disadvantaged, by bridging the digital divide.

The agreement is designed help teachers and students upload on SWAYAM the courses developed in Afghanistan. The required training to students and faculty will be given by the Human Resource Ministry.

As part of the MoU, the Indian government will share the technology of major ICT initiatives in education such as National Digital Library of India, virtual labs and spoken tutorials.
