PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistaninfo-icon army chief, underlining the imperative of peace and prosperity in the region, says war brings people untold misfortunes, including hunger a trail of death and destruction.

“Wars bring death, destruction and misery for the people. Ultimately, all issues are resolved on the table through negotiations,” Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Saturday.

Pakistan was trying hard to help bring lasting peace and stability to Afghanistaninfo-icon by supporting an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process, he told a passing-out parade in the port city of Karachi.

“Similarly, our new government has extended a hand of peace and friendship towards India with utmost sincerity. But it should not be taken as our weakness. It is time to fight against hunger, disease and illiteracy, then to fight against each other.”
