KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Different commercial goods from Afghanistaninfo-icon loaded in nine trucks have arrived in Turkey through the Lapis Lazuli route, an official said on Saturday.

Ajmal Hameed Abdul Rahimzai, secretary for the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MoCI), told Pajhwok Afghan News the trucks loaded with Afghan commercial goods reached the Turkish Arteyon Custom Office late on Friday.

The arrival of these trucks would be celebrated in a special ceremony on Wednesday in which representatives from both countries would participate.

Musafir Qoqandi, spokesman of the MoCI, said the trucks were loaded with 188 different items.

He said these trucks reached Turkey from Afghanistan passing Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

On December 13, President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the transfer of goods through the Lapis Luzuli route in Herat.

Representatives from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey attended the inauguration of the trans-regional route at the Maulana Jalaluddin Balkhi Hall.

The trans-regional corridor will encompass mainly railways and highways, which will connect the city of Torghundi in Herat with the port of Turkmenbashi on the shore of the Caspian Sea via Ashgabat.
