Samangan coalmines generate 3.3b afs revenue

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Revenue from the coalmines in northern Samangan province reached 3.3 billion afghanis this solar yearinfo-icon, showing a 15 percent increase over last year’s income, an official said on Sunday.

Eng. Abdul Latif Waheedi, Samangan mines department head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that income of the two coalmines namely Garmak west, Garmak east of the district was 76.5 million afghanis last year but this year 145.2 billion afghanis.

According to him, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed the contract of the Garmak west and Garmak east coalmines with a private firm.

He said one ton of coal extracted by local people was taxed 1500 afghanis and the same quantity of coal extracted by government workers was sold against 2000 afghanis.
