KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) has signed contracts for construction of 62 kilometres of roads at a cost of 62 billion afghanis in four provinces.

Public Works Minister Yama Yari and representatives of four companies signed the agreements here.

Yari said 25 kilometres of roads would be constructed in Parwan, 15 kilometres in Helmand, over 12 kilometres in Nangarhar and over nine kilometres in Khost province.

The construction of bridges and culverts were part of the projects financially supported by the Worldinfo-icon Bank, he said.  He asked the contracted companies to ensure quality construction work.

Parwan Governor Fazal Din Ayar, who was present on the occasion, expressed his delight over the road projects, and said “We are ready to make every kind of commitment to support the development projects with the companies and the central government.”

He said construction of the road in Parwan would reduce traffic snarls on the Kabul-Parwan Road and would decline traffic accidents.

The representatives of the construction companies pledged to complete the construction work in the stipulated time.
