KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and Ireland will begin a month-long series involving games across all three formats on February 21, two days ahead of the previous schedule.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) requested that the series be moved forward by two days to avoid coinciding with the beginning of the 2019 Indian Premier League edition.

Scheduled to get under way on March 23, the IPL will feature senior Afghan cricketers Mujeebur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, according media reports.

ACB Chief Executive Shafiqullah Stanikzai was quoted as saying: "Initially, we planned to conclude the series on March 23 but keeping in mind the dates of IPL, the dates were slightly adjusted...”

Warren Deutrom, chief executive of Cricket Ireland, told the BBC the minor amendment to playing days would not impact too much on the travel bookings of any fans attending the series.”

The month-long series involves three T20 fixtures, five one-day games and a concluding Test match from March 15 to 19.

Afghanistan will host the series, starting with T20 matches, at Dehradun's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

The one-day international series will start on February 15. The ODIs will help Afghanistan prepare for the ICC Men's Cricket Worldinfo-icon Cup 2019.
