KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Amrullah Saleh who was appointed as acting interior minister a month ago resigned from his position on Saturday and would join the electoral ticket of Mohammad Ashraf Ghani as first vice-president.

Najib Danish, deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News that Amrullah Saleh has resigned from his position.

Meanwhile, a credible source who wished to go unnamed, said that Saleh resigned because he was joining the electoral ticket of Mohammad Ashraf Ghani as his first vice-presidential hopeful.

Saleh was appointed as acting interior minister about a month ago.

So far Dr. Zalmai Rassoul, Abdul Latif Pedram, Mohammad Hakim Thorsan, Seyyed Noorollah Jalili, Inayatullah Hafez, Faramarz Tamanna, Shahab Hakimi and Mohammad Hanif Atmar have nominated for presidential elections.

Presidential elections are expected to hold on July 20, 2019.
