3 projects worth 21m afs put into service in Faryab

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three construction projects worth 21.5 million afghanis have been inaugurated, including one project a Talibaninfo-icon’s control area, in northwestern Faryab province, the governor said on Sunday.

Naqibullah Faiq told Pajhwok Afghan News the construction projects faced no security threats during their implementation.

Faiq thanked President Ashraf Ghani for allocating the development projects to Faryab and urged all donor countries and the ministries to implement similar projects in the province because there was no security risk.

Nazir Shirzad, deputy director of the Technical Reconstructioninfo-icon of Roads Program in the northern zone, said the newly completed projects included a bridge and two irrigation dams on the outskirts of Maimana, the provincial capital, and Pashtonkot district of the province.

He said the bridge’s construction cost 19 million afghanis funded by the Ministry of Public Works.

At the inauguration ceremony for the completed projects, the new bridge was named “Peace and Friendship”.

Meanwhile, provincial agricultureinfo-icon director Abdul Kabir Farazam said the two irrigation dams were constructed in Sarbalaq locality of the 3rd police district of Maimana and in the second in Arab Aqsa locality of the Pashtonkot district, which was under Taliban’s control.

Farzam said the two irrigation dams would irrigate above 500 acres of land.
