KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The United States and Pakistaninfo-icon condemned Monday’s brazen attack on an intelligence training center in central Maidan Wardak province, in which 36 local security personnel were killed and 58 others injured.

The National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) in a statement on Tuesday said the Talibaninfo-icon attacked the local uprising movement base with an explosives-laden Humvee vehicle in Maidan Shahr, the capital of Maidan Wardak province.

The attack began at around 7:30 am in the Bagh-i-Zanana locality on Monday morning.

The US strongly condemned the attack on the NDS training facility and termed it against Afghanistaninfo-icon’s defenders.

“In the face of such cowardly acts, the United States stands with the people of Afghanistan, who seek a peaceful future and an end to violence,” read a statement from the US Embassy in Kabul.

“We honor the sacrifices of the brave Afghan security and defense forces and we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims,”

The United States reiterated continued support to the Afghan partners to bolster security and achieve an end to the conflict in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan also condemned the deadliest attack in Maidan Wardak and offered his prayers for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

“My condolences go to the people of Afghanistan at the great loss of life suffered in the condemnable act of terror in Maidan Wardak province on Monday; I pray that peace will return soon to our war-ravaged neighbour,” he said in a tweet.

Presidential hopeful and former National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar also condemned the attack and expressed his disapproval of the government’s security policies.

“I’m horrified by the huge loss inflicted on our national security forces by the terrorist attack in Maidan Shahr. The report of losses is unbearable! I condemn the barbarism of our enemies. Dismayed by the govt leadership’s playing politics with security sector leadership,” he said in a tweet
