PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The government of Pakistaninfo-icon has been urged to lift unnecessary restrictions and allow free trade with Afghanistaninfo-icon to boost the economy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

A business leader said on Sunday the curbs had damaged bilateral trade ties between the two countries and forced Afghan importers to seek alternative markets to meet their needs.

Former head of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahidullah Shinwari told reporters in Landi Kotal that economic activity had to be strengthened for peace in Fatainfo-icon districts,

As a result of pressure from the US, he recalled, a trade agreement was signed in 2010 between Pakistan and Afghanistan. But stakeholders were not consulted, he alleged, claiming that Af-Pak trade was harmed as a result.
